INTRO:

Okay, You've downloaded this thing now you're probably wondering what it does
simple, it lets you quickly lay out your area on a grid, very handy -
especially if you are planning out a maze.

It takes its best guess as to how to draw the area so any area that conforms
to diku WLD format can be edited. When you save the area it also writes out
a MAP file, however thats more for your use than the use of the editor.

For my own mud (daydream.uvic.ca 5000) you would then mail / ftp
whatever me the area. I'd plunk it into the server, and then you would use
EVEN COOLER online MOLE GUI Windows editor to add objects / mobs etc. The
reason why you would do this is because MOLE allways downloads all the
current flags, object formats etc from the server so you dont have to worry
about the info in the dialogs being out of date - they're up to the second!

SHAREWARE DISCLAIMER:

If you've downloaded this editor to work on my mud (daydream.uvic.ca
5000) then dont worry. Use it and enjoy, as long as you're working on my mud
its free. If on the other hand you're helping out the competition then this
program is shareware. If you like it, mail me a postcard and $25 bucks. Or
$10 dollars, or whatever you think its worth to you. The program is
completely full featured and its never gonna nag you so registering the
program is more of a peace of mind thing than anything else. However if
you've registered the program and are interested I'll throw in the source
code, hows that for generous? And if you're interested in licensing the
editor for your mud and anyone who works on areas for you, send me an email,
I'm hardly expecting to get rich of this thing, so I'll be more than
reasonable.

HOW TO USE:

* Change the virtual number to the first number in your area.

* Simply click on a blank button to create a room entry, make exits between
rooms by clicking on one of the connection buttons, thats all there is to it!

* When you click on a empty room and create, it copies the description
and title of the currently highlit room.

* To graph an existing area, load the area, click on a room that interests
you then click on an empty button in the main window. The program will then
generate a map of the area.

* Once your area gets to big either shift the area around or just Edit/Clear
select a room near where you want to edit and then click it on the map window
(Personally I never use shift, I just clear and replace)

* To delete a room, click on it in the big list on the right hand side of the
screen and then hit the DELETE key. (nothing to it)

BLATANT PLUG:

Since you're downloading my editor and reading my documentation, I thought
I'd plug my own mud - which incidentally kicks butt. It is vaguely diku like
but is based on its own completely unique from scratch engine. If you can
imagine it, my engine can probably do it. It features its own C4 scripting
language (very C like). It has lots of automated quests, 100% unique areas.
over 130 skills at last count, mobs you can actually talk to and interact with
and way cool things like rooms that move around in real-time, ie elevators
and shuttles. I cant say enough good things about it so why dont you check it
out at daydream.uvic.ca 5000
