The origional 2.4.5 LP-Mud required the player to sell or drop all of his
equipment, like weapons and armour, before he quit (logged off) for the
day. If the player didn't sell his/her/it's equipment, he would drop
everything where he was when he quit.

This allowed any other player to pick up and use his equipment if the
origional player had dropped it, or any other player that had the money
could buy the equipment from the store if the origional player had sold it.

If the MUD rebooted before he logged back on, the player wouldn't be able
to buy back his stuff at all, and have to re-equip himself some other way.

The idea of a Pawn Shop is to pay money so that you can claim your
equipment when you log back on again without the danger of having someone
buying your equipment, or your equipment not being there when you return.

The obvious items to be pawned are weapons and armour. But other objects
may be pawnable.
