I don't really have the time to search out source code, so I'm mostly relying on you people to send me what you know. If there are any errors or ommisions here, I severly apologize. I have not written any of these reviews myself. MUD DEVELOPERS!!!! This is the perfect place to brag about your new developments... Please take advantage of it! To get on this mailing list, mail awozn...@morpheus.calpoly.edu with the line PUT ME ON THE LIST as the subject. To submit a review, put the line MUD VERSION REVIEW in the subject. A sample review follows. BlahMUD version 3.8.2.dsaf A bugfix release of 3.8.1.dsaf, this new version includes commands such as 'say' and 'pose', as well as a new version of the combat system (this one includes spells). The author is Eny Buddy, and the source is available at somewhere.place.whatever Ok, that's about it, and _please_ send me more reviews! ----End of Intro---- PernMUSH 1.14 PernMUSH is based on older Micro code (pre muse, and has quite a few bug fixes, functions, and functionality that other MUSH codes out there). It's biggest difference from other MUSHES is a) the expanded set of functions and b) the ability to have arbitraily named attributes. The code is maintained by j...@andrew.cmu.edu LambdaMOO 1.4.5 LambdaMOO is a highly programmable object oriented mud. It is not derived from any of the other tinymuds. LambdaMOO is an outgrowth of ghond's original alphaMOO and has undergone several major code revisions. LambdaMOO comes with a core database filled with useful subroutines for programming, and the basic room, player, exit, etc. objects. For the more adventurous, there is also a minimalist database, containing the very minimum you need to get started. (To our knowledge, nobody has actually done more than fiddle around with the minimalist db.) LambdaMOO requires an ANSI compliant C compiler. LambdaMOO code, database, and documentation may be anonymously FTP'd from parcftp.xerox.com (13.1.64.94), directory pub/MOO. User contributed documentation is available under pub/MOO/contrib. The original LambdaMOO is running at lambda.parc.xerox.com 8888 (13.2.116.36 8888). A small number of other moos, mostly private, also exist. ghond (Stephen White) wrote the original MOO, Haakon (Pavel Curtis) is responsible for all recent changes. TeenyMUD 1.0 See TeenyMUD 1.1 (below) TeenyMUD 1.1 Teenymud 1.1 is a bugfix/ spiffed up TeenyMUD 1.0, which was a complete rewrite of the TinyMUD room/object/exit model. No TinyMUD code was used in the creation of TeenyMUD. Teenymud uses its own disk based database storage system. The author is Andrew Molitor. The source is available via anon ftp at snow.white.toronto.edu AberMud 4.500.CSD A spinoff of AberMud 4.100, this version has alignments and WIZWAR. ASKERBULKUM is currently running this version at olso.docs.uu.se 6715 Tinymuse version 1.3 Yet another Tiny derivative; this version contains: improved class system; a working concentrator (server end only); @reboot; file editing things like +ls, +edit, +mkdir; works like a real daemon (forks off and loses control terminal); LIGHT flag (counteracts dark); RWHO support; multi-player paging; plus lots more! authored by the kooshers guy (n...@CHEZMOTO.AI.MIT.EDU (Nils McCarthy)) it's available via anonymouse ftp at chezmoto.ai.mit.edu:tinymuse/muse-1.3.tar.Z TinyMUCK-2.2 This stunning hack of Tiny* code includes spiffy things like exits with multiple destinations, MUF ( a FORTH based programming language), LOCKS to programs, etc... TeenyMud 1.19 beta release TeenyMud 1.19 beta is now available to the general public on fido.econ.arizona.edu (128.196.196.1) in /pub/TeenyMud-1.19beta.tar.Z It's a lot like TinyMud. Many of building and exploring commands are all the same. There's support for registration, builder flags, reversible who lists, and all... just switch on what you want in the config.h file. But here's the bonus: It's disk-based. No more heaping huge processes to eat up all your RAM; now you can run a nice small mud without taking much memory. Want to run a really big mud? No problem! The Classic DB has run under Teeny, taking up under 1M RAM. Nice, huh? TeenyMud was written by Andrew Molitor, Sean Coates, and Jason Downs, the latter two who are supporting this release. This will be the last release with the traditional penny system included. If you want to keep up on all the teenymud gossip, development, coding, trivia, and major thru minor details, there is a mail list you can join. Send your address to teeny-list-requ...@fido.econ.arizona.edu to be added. ----End of Version Listing---- STILL less than 1 million versions! -- __/_awozn...@morpheus.calpoly.edu o.o .sig fault /)__/__.______')/____.____o__./_ \___/ core dumped... /--/(_/_(_/|_///
