*** Compiling ***

Ogham is a Unix program. If you're running VMS, NT or DOS/Windows 3.1 or 95
forget it. And before you mail me asking whether they'll be a version
available for these platforms the answer is a definite no. No one uses VMS any
more, NTs and especially Windows 95s multitasking abilities are a joke and
DOS/Windows 3.1 simply arn't up to the job. Besides which I'd have to rewrite
a lot of the networking code and I can't be bothered. The mud will compile to
an executable called "ogmud".

Ogham 2 will compile with no difficulties (well ok, maybe the odd warning here
or there) on the following unixes:

IBM AIX 3 & 4
DEC OSF/1
Linux 1.x (tested on 1.1.59 & 1.2.13 with GNU 2.5.8 C compiler)
SunOS 5/Solaris
HP-UX 10 *

* See the makefile. You'll get a couple of warnings on compilation about line
82 in main.c, ignore them. You need the HP ANSI compiler by the way, the
bundled one is strict K&R and is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Should compile with minimal tweeking , probably of the makefile (though I've
not tested it) on these:

Irix
Next (Mach)

Unlikely to compile without a fight on:

SunOS 4

(Has a non-ansi compilers which is the cause of the problem)

Havn't a clue what'll happen on:

Xenix
SCO unix
Minix
Any other unix I havn't mentioned.

** Notes for Solaris users **

Ogham compiles happily using the berkeley compiler - /usr/ucb/cc. For some
reason even though ucbcc and /usr/ucb/cc should be the same, one works and one
doesn't. I haven't bothered to look into it to find out why. If your system has
it just uncomment the appropriate line in the makefile.
If for some reason your system doesnt have it and you must use the standard
solaris compiler enter "#define random() rand()" in defs.h then set
"CC=cc -lsocket -lnsl" in the makefile.
